McGregor was at the zenith of his power with the sound of his name knocking on the very doors of Olympia in November of 2016 at UFC205 where it took him less than 2 full rounds, 8 minutes and 4 seconds to completely finish ‘the underground king’ Eddie Alvarez and become the first fighter in UFC history to hold two titles simultaneously.Though it is noted that he didn’t care to go on to defend these titles they were but a message to the rest of the onlookers that McGregor will do it ‘myway’ as he went on to solidify his status by becoming the richest MMA fighter in the history of the sport by crossing over into the sport of boxing and fighting Floyd Mayweather in a boxing match.

McGregor had won before he threw his first punch and not because he survived 10 rounds with Mayweather, but because the bout became the 2nd biggest PPV in boxing history at 4.4 million PPV buys coming second only to Mayweather’s 2015 fight against Manny Pacquiao which brought in 4.6 million PPV buys. The Irish man was estimated to have walked away with an impressive100 millions US dollars that night and though he has not won a fight since 2016 his ability to turn water into wine has not stopped.

Sadly his ascent has also been met by a descent into violent brawls with referees, members of the public, buses, allegations of sexual assault and now his latest incident with a fans mobile phone?

The last place we expected to see McGregor’s name plastered next to was the word ‘rape’ and yet even though no official charges have been made the damage in itself is enough to tarnish his reputation and bring the sport he is associated with into ill repute. In his latest incident, at 5am on Monday March 11th, McGregor was seen snatching a mobile phone belonging to a 22 year old fan by the name of Ahmed Abdirzak outside the famous Miami Beach A-list Fontainebleau Hotel, home to the LIV nightclub. McGregor preceded to destroy the phone and then refused to give it back.Footage captured below by TMZ.

Ahmed Abdirzak has not received an official apology from McGregor and you can listen to him describe his ordeal in an interview with the Daily Mail.

The good news for McGregor is that he has managed to get a reduction in the charges according to a report by A.J. Perez of MMAJunkie.

McGregor’s new hearing date is April 10th for this incident, however even
with a reduction in these charges if McGregor is convicted he could find entering the USA on a work or visitors visa a serious issue with Immigration.

I guess we will have to wait and see if the Teflon Don can get himself out of this mess next Wednesday..like you we will keep watching this space.
